Boston, MA
Fluidity and bold color helped define the character of an entire floor of a Winthrop Square office building we renovated for this multinational energy corporation, bringing both beauty and decisive design to their North American Headquarters. We were presented with an uneven floor plan that followed the ancient curvy streets of downtown Boston, creating a number of logistical hurdles that were solved by embracing, rather than hiding, the aspects that made the space unique. Stacked rectangles, in different configurations of glass and color, appear and reappear as a unifying element throughout the rooms, and translucent glass helped solve the competing demands of light and privacy. Mahogany paneling serves as the warm visual link between the working areas and public space. We also designed the interiors of the company's tanker ship The Matthew.
