Historic Boston Renovation
Located in a prominent historic Boston neighborhood, our renovation of a five-story brick row house transformed the interior of the 19th century Federal style building's interior to a modern oasis. Spaces were carefully created within the existing envelope to foster relaxation through a warm, clean aesthetic with modern appeal.
A fluted glass and steel vestibule and sculptural stair welcome both homeowners and guests into the home. The five floors include spaces for entertaining and private quarters for our client and their family. A rear garden courtyard features a Kousa dogwood tree and a private sitting area. An expansive pyramidal skylight and floor to ceiling windows add a unique modern feature to the dining room, providing abundant natural light and visual connection to the garden.
Custom European white oak millwork is featured on every floor. The three original fireplaces have been reclad in limestone cabouchon fluted tile. We worked closely with talented craftspeople to perfect every detail within the fixed footprint of this historic home. The result of that collaboration makes the Modern Row House a special project in our portfolio.
